The Fontodi Meriggio is an elegant and flavorful Sauvignon Blanc that captivates white wine enthusiasts. Its nose boasts fresh, crisp notes reminiscent of river stones, aromatic herbs, white wildflowers, and hints of peppery spices. With its vibrant and well-defined acidity, this wine invigorates the palate. A product of the north-facing La Rota vineyard at Fontodi, the grapes undergo controlled-temperature fermentation in stainless steel, followed by a six-month maturation on the lees, primarily in stainless steel and a small portion in amphora. Fontodi Farm, acquired by the Manetti family in 1968, is strategically located in the heart of Chianti Classico, boasting south-facing vineyards and galestro-rich soils. The estate follows organic practices, even utilizing Chianine cattle for vineyard fertilization. The new gravity-based cellar further enhances their winemaking endeavors.
The Fontodi property is located in the heart of the Chianti Classico hills more specifically in the valley that opens south of Panzano, known as "Conca d'Oro" - Gold Valley - due to its particular location on the ground.
