Of the three Crus of Barbaresco, the "Sorì San Lorenzo®", "Sorì Tildìn®" and the "Costa Russi®", Sorì San Lorenzo is the most valued wine. It is one of the three individual farms of the Gaja vineyards in Barbaresco. It is the most powerful and sometimes the most austere wine of the "Châteaux" of Gaja. The Sorì is located at the top of the hill and facing south; San Lorenzo is the patron saint of Alba, the city towards which the vineyard is oriented. The vineyard was owned by the church until 1964, when Angleo Gaja acquired it.

Gaja was among the first producers who, forty years ago, began to bottle and label the different farms separately. Only 15 years ago, your Barolo went on the market as Sperss®, that is, as a farm wine. The critics with the most international influence such as Robert Parker, Alessandro Masnaghetti, Michele Bettane, Joël Payne and Armin Diel always give the highest rating to GAJA's parcel wines. Even so, a Barbaresco or a Barolo without farm identification do not have to be less appreciated by wine lovers and connoisseurs than a farm wine - in the words of Angelo Gaja -.

This wine is the protagonist of the book "The Vines of San Lorenzo" by Edward Steinberg.
