“The 2019 La Conseillante is performing brilliantly and rivals the 2016 as Marielle Cazaux's finest vintage at this leading Pomerol estate to date. Wafting from the glass with striking aromas of raspberries, plums, violets, raw cocoa, sweet soil tones and licorice, framed by a deftly integrated touch of classy new oak, it's full-bodied, ample and enveloping, its broad attack segueing into a seamless, layered mid-palate that's vibrant and concentrated, framed by powdery tannins and lively acids, before concluding with a long, saline finish.” - William Kelley, RobertParker.com
La Conseillante, an emblematic property in Pomerol, has a rich history dating back to the 18th century when it was bequeathed by Catherine Conseillan. The Nicolas family acquired the estate in 1871, and it is now managed by the fifth generation, Bertrand and Jean-Valmy Nicolas. Their pursuit of excellence is evident in the vineyard's unique terroir, mainly clay soils with 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, producing round and structured wines. The estate employs environmentally friendly practices, controlled yields, and modern facilities, including a new winery designed for the 18 individual vineyards covering its 12 hectares. With 145 successive harvests, La Conseillante maintains a consistent quality that reflects the family's dedication to preserving this exceptional heritage.
